What kind of books are available from Bookshare?

Both novels and textbooks are available via Bookshare.

How do students download a book from Bookshare?

A faculty member must download the book for the students, using their login.

What is the difference between Bookshare and Read:OutLoud?

Bookshare is the website from which you download the books (after installing Read:OutLoud). Read:OutLoud is the text-to-speech software used to open and read the books.

How do students open and read a book from Bookshare?

Bookshare books can be opened and read using Read:OutLoud (on a computer) or Read2Go (on an iPad). Read:OutLoud isntall discs are available in the library.

Do the books from Bookshare cost money?

The books from Bookshare are free, but the student must have purchased a copy of the book in order to legally access the book from Bookshare.

What about course materials that aren't on Bookshare?

If you are planning on teaching a book that isn't available on Bookshare, let me know and I can submit a request that they add it (this usually takes several weeks to a couple months). Read:OutLoud can also be used to open and read PDFs and wesbites.
